Hi, we are Rahel, 17 years old, currently living in Trimbelston, Goatstown and Nora, 18 years old, living in Seabury, Malahide. We are here in Dublin for our international work experience. We have been in Dublin for seven weeks now. What we enjoy most is learning English, working in a new environment, creating memories, and exploring Dublin. However, sometimes we need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Therefore, we like to explore the beautiful countryside of Ireland.
Our favourite spots…
Bray & Killiney Hill
The east coast of Dublin that we have seen so far is really beautiful. Killiney Hill and Bray are approximately one hour from the city centre. We got there by DART, which is a relaxing train ride along the coast. It is perfect for a walk along the shore. There are lovely cliff walks and nice trails up to the hill. We weren’t expecting such a stunning coastline.
Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are located on the west coast of Ireland. They are one of the best-known places in Ireland and are highly recommended. If you are looking for that famous Irish vibe you see in pictures of Ireland, then this is the perfect place to go.
Howth
Even though Howth is a little further away from Dublin, you can still easily get there by DART. You can start with a stunning cliff walk that ends in the small village. It is the perfect place to try some fish and chips and stroll around the little market.
Giant’s Causeway
The Giant’s Causeway is located in Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. Legend tells of the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill and his rival, Benandonner, whose rivalry is said to have created the Giant’s Causeway. Today, the dramatic coastline feels like a place where ancient legends and the power of nature come together. It is a truly magical spot where myth and natural wonder meet. If you like myths and sagas, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
Glendalough
Ireland not only has an amazing coastline, but also beautiful landscapes in the heart of the country. One example is Glendalough, which is located in the Wicklow Mountains. You will come across two beautiful lakes, lovely hiking trails, and lots of fresh air.
As you can see, there is a lot to experience in Ireland. We are really enjoying our time here. We love not only the beautiful country, but also the opportunity to experience what it feels like to live, work, and learn in a foreign country. We are looking forward to creating many more memories and continuing to grow as individuals.
